Real-ear measurement (REM)

A probe-microphone measurement of sound produced in an ear canal while a hearing aid is worn.

REM supplies measurement information that a hearing-care professional can use during verification and adjustment. It does not by itself guarantee comfort, benefit or a particular outcome.
